Allain BOUGRAIN DUBOURG was born in Paris. From childhood, he founded a Young Friends of Animals Club. At the age of eighteen, he gave lectures in schools and later created a traveling exhibition called “Pavillon de la Nature” to raise public awareness about the protection of biodiversity. Supported by Jean Rostand and Jean Dorst, he was awarded the Fondation de la Vocation prize in 1969. After the death of Jean Rostand, he replaced him as a member of the Foundation’s jury.

In 1973, TF1 invited him to speak about animals on youth programs. In 1974, every Wednesday on Antenne 2, he hosted an animal segment in “Un sur cinq.” On the same channel, he continued in 1976 with “Des Animaux et des Hommes,” a weekly program. In 1978, he created and produced “Terre des Bêtes.” In 1986, his program became “Entre Chien et Loup.” In 1988, he created “Animalia,” broadcast on Saturdays on France 2. This was followed by the series “A tire d’aile.” In 2000, he hosted on La Cinquième “Les Cinquièmes Rencontres,” a magazine devoted to natural phenomena. On the radio, he presented the segment “Curieux de nature” on France Bleu, and later, every Sunday on France Inter, “Vivre avec les bêtes” with Elisabeth de Fontenay. From 2015 to 2017, he presented a Sunday morning column on the weekend 7/9 program on France Inter. In 2017, he presented a segment on Europe 1, Saturday mornings, in the show of Wendy Bouchard then Bernard Poirette. Since late August 2020, he has been hosting “On refait la planète” on RTL, every Sunday at 7:15 p.m., alongside Vincent Parizot.

He is also producer and host of the program “Au nom de la faune” on the Animaux channel, followed by “Journal de la faune” and “Naturellement” for the same channel. Since 1996, he has been a producer and director within Nature Productions. Dedicated exclusively to the environment and wildlife, this company produces programs broadcast on France 5 (co-produced with National Geographic), M6, France 2, Canal+ and others.

As project manager at the Ministry of Agriculture, Allain BOUGRAIN DUBOURG has multiplied his field actions. He received the National Order of Merit from Commander Cousteau for his commitment to wildlife, became an Officer in 1999, then Knight of the Legion of Honor in 2005, Officer in 2013, and Commander in 2022. In 2000, he was appointed Vice-President of the Observatoire des Marées Noires. He has presided over the Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux (LPO) since 1986 (75,000 members and 600 employees). He is a member of the Conseil National de la Transition Ecologique (CNTE) and the Conseil National Biodiversité (CNB). He is President of the COS of the Fondation pour la Recherche sur la Biodiversité (FRB), and administrator of the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle (MNHN).

Allain BOUGRAIN DUBOURG was collection director of “Etat sauvage” at Atlas and is also the author of several books.
